Colchester estate and lettings agent Boydens has taken on its first block management clients in London, extending its property management division beyond its home region.

The firm manages more than 3,000 units across Essex and Suffolk from its Colchester head office, where its nine-person block management team works. Its clients are spread across Colchester, Chelmsford, Felixstowe, Ipswich and Sudbury.

The portfolio covers traditional leasehold properties, converted historic buildings and purpose-built blocks of between six and 120 units. The team also manages communal areas on estates made up mostly of freehold homes, as well as private estates with houses and apartments. Converted buildings on its books include former mills, hotels, schools, malt houses and a brewery.

As part of the expansion, Euan Shepherd has been promoted to assistant manager and will run the service day to day. He has worked at the company for four years. Philip Boyden, managing director, said the promotion was "recognition of the hard work and dedication he has brought to the team since he joined us four years ago."

Shepherd said the team was "very busy with several new clients including our first in London, a development close to St Paul's Cathedral." He said developers, landlords, freeholders and Right to Manage companies valued the firm's full block management service.

Shepherd added that Boydens had further opportunities in development but would put service to existing clients first while it takes on new ones.
